Objective(s)
VERPI’s scientific programme is structured around four main objectives:
- building and strengthening national and regional ID research capacity
- fostering a global network of multidisciplinary experts
- facilitating rapid, coordinated investigations of emerging and ongoing ID of international concerns
- developing new diagnostics and therapeutics tools for priority pathogens.
Work packages
VERPI is organized in 6 work packages (WP) leading specific research and management tasks:
- WP 1 – Integrating metagenomics, bioinformatics, and epidemiology for viral emergence monitoring
- WP 2 – Developing broad spectrum viral countermeasure including antivirals and monoclonal antibodies targeting conserved viral features and diagnostics tools
- WP 3 – Predicting host outcomes to infection
- WP 4 – Enhancing public trust through open, transparent and locally adaptable health communication
- WP 5 – Training and knowledge exchange
- WP 6 – Dissemination, exploitation and communication and Consortium management
